And also a time for us to reflect on our own mortality and to prepare our souls for our earthly destiny. We should contemplate (if we do not do so already) the four last things and all that they mean; Death, The last Judgement, Hell and Heaven.
As well as getting our spiritual life in order we should ensure that arrangements, in the event of death, are well documented; do you want an OF Mass or an EF Mass? Do you wish to be cremated or buried?
It may not be pleasant to think on these things but, so often, at a time of bereavement, those left behind are not aware of the personal desires of the person who has died.
Make certain of your wishes and amend your will accordingly and or complete the form normally held by your parish priest.
Finally, for November, Confraternity members may like to list the souls of family, friends and benefactors that they would like prayed for, place it in an envelope marked 'Holy Souls' and give it to Fr Jason Jones or their parish priest.
It is customary also to give a small offering or stipend to the priest concerned.
